Low recoil
Versatile Weapon
Accurate
5 shot mag capacity
Very nice finish on the stock
Bit heavy to be carrying for any distance on a field hunt
Fitted with a Nikko-Sterling 'Nighteater' 4-16 x 50 scope and a Harris 6-9" bipod, this weapon was purchased for its versatility, as both a competition and a hunting rifle. Ammuntition tested in the Remington Model 700 VLS .223 weapon were PMC 55gr SP and Reminton Express 55gr PSP. It produced consistent groups at range (200m+) after 40 rounds had passed through (with both types of ammo, remington PSP produced marginally better groups), undoubtedly the heavy barrel config of this model aided in the accuracy.
The rifle prooved itself in the field with devastating results on rabbits at range and having no difficulty in dropping a trophy sized Billy at 80m (just lucky to get that close to the big fella I feel). It also produced excellent results on foxes.
Overall, a great weapon, excellent consistent accuracy with flat trajectory out past 200m with the heavier projectile. Also a very nice looking weapon.
