Good Points

Great for beginner/intermediate user. Point and shoot on auto pretty much foolproof. Quality of shots is excellent at 6+ Mp.

Bad Points

Shuts off far too often and too quickly (battery saver ?) and usually just at the wrong moment! Remembering where those settings/options (Portrait/Night/Action etc) are to change them! Slightly heavy to carry around. Suffers from shake slightly too much at 6+Mp (just got a mono-pole ;-) or is it me ?

General Comments

The Fuji Finepix S7000 is my 2nd DC and my first compact (ready for SLR next ?). I found it easy to use and get started. I love the B&W and grid (rule of thirds) options. Highly recommend it especially now as it is half the price I paid for it.

Can be quite heavy on NiMH batteries

I'm using a set of Ever Ready 2500's and the batteries seem to last forever. No complaint at all with the batteries or the camera.

Regarding the weight of the Fuji Finepix S7000 - it's still lighter than an SLR with an equivalent lens.

Battery saving shut down can be set for 2 minutes, 5 minutes or no shut down. I know *EXACTLY* what you mean about the Fuji Finepix S7000 digital camera being a pain; shutting down annoyingly. I set mine for no shutdown.
