Good Points

Fantastic food, good choice of evening entertainment

Bad Points

Unhelpful hotel staff (specifically the Animation Team), rooms were not of 5 star quality, lack of English TV channels (despite the fact that there were many British guests!)

General Comments

Port El Kantaoui Melia El Mouradi Palace - Have just returned from our stay at this hotel for seven days, and to be honest was quite relieved to come home!

The hotel is rated 5 star, but to be honest the rooms were not of the typical 5 star standard (more like 3/4) although the rooms were cleaned everyday. Rooms were furnished with dated furniture, and there were cigarette marks in our carpet.

On arrival, we enquired with reception about the possibility of getting some basketball facility to be set up, and they told us to talk with the Animation Team, who then told us to speak with reception again. This farce continued and it was evident that nobody wanted to know or help us. Finally the Animation Team told us it was possible, and they would put up the basketball nets that afternoon - unfortunately they didn't, and the promises continued until the day before we left. We just found the staff generally really unhelpful and consistantly trying to fob us off with false promises. One excuse given was that there was not enough staff, but we noticed staff just sitting around the recreation area and chatting to each other. My son was utterly disappointed with their attitude - and it ruined his holiday.

In short, don't go the the Mouradi Palace if you expect 5 star service and helpful staff.

After staying at the hotel less than three weeks ago i am absolutely amazed that anyone could label the staff at this hotel friendly. All members of staff whether one of the cleaning ladies or the lifeguards made every effort to make you as comfortable as was humanly possible and spoke a rather incredible 4 langauges. Maybe the review here witnessed staff out of season but from my own experience you could not have asked for a better workforce.

I would agree that there was a lack of English channels on the tv (eurosport and BBC World only) but at a hotel catering for such a wide range of nationalities i would expect nothing less. On the count we made there we around 8 different nationalities (that we met) ranging from Norweigans through to Algerians and the English were definitely not the main section of the tourists there.
