Good Points

Seems to play everything I threw at it.

Bad Points

None so far.

It's slightly disconcerting that there appears to be no information at all on the Internet about Limit, but that's not relevent to the player's performance.

General Comments

I bought a Limit 8070 (8072) from Richer Sounds, who advised me to choose this player over the Acoustic 321 which I had intended to buy.

Having read that some people had had problems with this player I decided to try it out before wrapping it (it's a birthday present for a relative) and compare it against my Wharfedale 750S.

It's marvellous.

It coped well with The Matrix, and, after unlocking, also played a Region 1 disk, a VCD and an SVCD with no problems whatsoever.

I've not used the player in anger, but picture and sound quality is possibly better than my Wharfedale which cost almost twice the eighty quid that Richer charged me for the Limit.

You mentioned unlocking the player, I have had difficulty finding any site which has the unlocking codes from the handset, can you point me in the right direction please?

Hi - I have just bought this model and am having trouble unlocking the machine to play vcd's etc - mainly because the copy I was given is illegible in places which makes it hard to enter the right codes! Please could you send me/post the instructions here? Thanks

To get at the region-selector menu option: 1) Open the tray 2) Press SETUP 3) Press 1 3 6 9 Left Left Left Right 4) Go into the VERSION menu that just appeared and choose region 0 or 9 for multiregion.

I tried the hack listed and all it would do was move my selection to the video option! This hack appears to be for 9091. I have used a hack that makes the DVD region free but I'm having trouble playing VCD's. The player normally comes up no disc although I did get one disc to play once and then it ignored again! If anyone has any ideas let me know. The hack I used was found at http://www.regionfreedvd.net/player/ along with plenty of others :-)

I got that hack to work. I'd agree pretty much with the review. The machine has a great zoom feature only slightly messed up by having the zoom ratio permanently on-screen (if anyone knows how to get rid of this tell me The limit also has the ability to select NTSC, my wharfedale always distorted right at the top of the screen with region 1 discs. I think the picture is slightly less distinct than the Wharfedale 750 but at £80 this is an utter bargain and I've been buying them for members of my family.

Just need to know which hacks work and which do not! I have bought the 8072 as a Home Cinema package(and what a bargain) from Richer Sounds. I have tried regionfreedvd.net but have trouble getting onto the site.

Can someone help please. If sharpypaul is out there perhaps you could mail me the correct hack

Very pleased with the player in all respects apart from the constant display of the zoom ratio when using this feature. Does anyone know how to get rid of this as it spoils an otherwise excellent machine.
