Call centre ops promise to do things but they don't happen
On line payment processes a mess
Generally incompetent and things don't get put right
We lived in our previous house for 20 years, supplied by Eastern Elec then TXU energy. No problems paying on line.
Then Powergen took over. They kept sending red reminders even though payments had been made on line, necessitating lots of phone calls.
On one occasion I was told my payment had been credited to another customer's account!!
Now we have moved to a new house - unfortunately Powergen are the supplier once again. I am still trying to sort out the mess. Firstly no bills arrived for 5 months! Initially Powergen denied that they were our supplier! They had apparently got our gas and elec meter details mixed up with two other houses, and despite several phone calls and promises to send revised details I still have not received them.
In my experience this is typical of Powergen. The ops helpfully promise that things will be sorted out, but then nothing happens. I have now got an electricity bill from them, but despite two requests no gas bill yet - six months after moving in! The call centre process is time consuming, but at least you think that the problem has been sorted. Except it hasn't!
Powergen cannot therefore be recommended.
