Reliable, accurate, easy to carry
Stock sights are disliked by some as they are plastic.
The third generation Glock 19 Gun is a 9 mm (9x19, 9 parabellum) pistol based on the same design and operating principles as the previous Glock pistols, with a few modifications. The grips now sport finger grooves and the barrel (at least in the USA) has been changed. Details available on Glock's web site.
The Glock 19 is, perhaps, the perfect 9 mm pistol. The little brother to the Glock 17, it is small enough to carry all day with little fatigue, it is easy to conceal, it is easy to shoot well under stress, and it holds 15 rounds in its magazine. The most important feature of any weapon is that it must be reliable. This one is.
I have shot everything from 115 grain to 147 grain FMJ and JHPs through it - even mixed them in the magazine - with never a pause or malfunction. Accuracy is within the 2 to 3 inch range at 25 yards, which is more than acceptable for its intended purpose. The one drawback that I can find about the pistol is that the sights are plastic and can be marred or disfigured more easily than steel sights. There is no external manual safety on this (or any Glock) pistol, but as long as you handle it in a responsible manner there shouldn't be a problem.
This is a superb pistol for civilian use, especially if its legal to carry a concealed weapon where you live/travel. It would also make a good service pistol. Glocks are known for their reliability and, after owning four, I can vouch for them. I have never, never had one malfunction for any reason.
If you are looking for a well made, reliable, accurate 9mm pistol, the Glock 19 could be the perfect pistol for you.
