Good Points

Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, Replay Value, Amount of music tracks.

Bad Points

Difficulty in later races, no multiplayer over infrastructure.

General Comments

For a handheld game, Ridge Racer looks amazing. I have never in my life seen as detailed graphics on a handheld game as I see on Ridge Racer. The visuals alone will keep you staring at the screen for hours.

The gameplay is above average as well. Using the analog joystick is the best way to play this game because it works so well. There are many different levels to choose from and advancing up the ranks is quite easy at first. You win new vehicles and tracks.

When using headphones the sound is something you will acually like to keep up high becuase it is a joy to hear the engines rev and the cars behind you. High quality indeed. New music, as well as music from previous Ridge Racers, are included. Mostly techno music that sounds good.

Even though I have not tried it, the game can be played with up to seven other players with the wireless connection but you all have to be directly connected (near each other). As of now, there is no infrastructure gameplay and that really is dissapointing because I would love to be playing someone in a different country.

Overall, this game is a must-own for any racing fan with a PSP. Its an impressive launch title and I will be keeping it as long as I have my PSP. I would give the graphics ten stars, but this is only a lauch title and I know the graphics on games will get much better in the coming months. Also, I think these PSP games are slightly overpriced. They cost the same amount as console games. This is one of the best games for PSP as of now.
