General Comments

I, like many others no doubt, have trawled through various web sites and read countless 'write ups' on this Air Arms S400 Classic .22 rifle, made my mind up only to change it again, for a third time and generally banged my head against the wall...then changed my mind again!! I have bought blind to a degree but what swung it for me was I visited Mendip Shooting Club and luckily they hold stock of this rifle and I must say I was very impressed with how it shouldered and the general fit, finish and feel. The S200 felt nice but I was put off by the relative low number of shots per charge, cracker it is otherwise. I also looked at the Hornet...fantasic looking gun but it seemed just a little too heavy in a direct comparison with the S400, did like it though! Whilst there I shot a Raider for an hour or so, (177), and I found it very accurate, lovely gun.....but has been hit by un ugly stick I think and a tad heavy too? I realise every gun finds favour with different people for different reasons and I can only hope the S400 performs as well as it looks/feels. The above will be with me tomorrow and i'll look forward to posting a 'proper' review in time. My other reason for previewing, if you like, was to issue a 'thank you' to all who have bothered to put fingers to keys and make for some very interesting and informative reading, Yes it has helped as i'm sure you have gathered by now! The ratings have been posted as this in order to maintain the rifles high score, however if it's not all it's cracked up to be i'll give you my thoughts but i'm confident i've made a good, if not frustrating choice.
