Access to all EOS kit, gives full control, also has program functions, perfect image quality, large resolution to A3 possible, excellent build quality, RAW format, great tonal range, fast start up, 6 FPS in RAW mode, over 20 in JPEG mode.
Some slight image softness (which can be fixed later).
This is, in my opinion, simply the best camera in the price range.
It is built in a robust metal casing and offers full access to the EOS suite of products (lenses, grips, flashes etc).
It's fast, and I mean fast with a 0.2s start-up time.
It gives flexibility for the advanced amateur to take full control, but can also be fully auto if preferred.
I have used the EOS 20D for sports action, portrait and landscape photography and found it copes with everything thrown at it.
The only slight issue I would raise is around image sharpness. In order to improve colour tonality Canon might have compromised slightly on sharpness, although this is only visible at the highest resolution (e.g. A3) and can be easily fixed using image manipulation software such as Photoshop, PS Elements, Paintshop Pro etc.
