AA Travel Insurance is outsourced to Inter group Claims Services (IGCS) an intermediately. Phoned from abroad on a Sunday to let them know that I was injured and what documents would I need to bring back with me to submit a claim. The gentleman that I spoke to was not very helpful and it could not tell me as he was only answering the out of hour's phone. Not a cheap call to make from aboard when you are ill and need advice. He was reluctant to take my details to send me the claim forms. I insisted he did. I arrived from holiday with no claim forms waiting for me. I then phoned back. I received the forms on the second attempt. I duly completed and submitted the forms. Only to received a letter saying that I had to submit an E111 from the post office. Why I was not told this at the beginning? So I then sent in the request E111 form. I then receive 2 bills back saying that they needed my signature. I then signed them and got a letter back saying that I had not returned the "brown one"...how professional is that? Why did they not tell me that I had to sign the bills/invoices from the doctors abroad? I then spent the next 2 days on the phone on hold, could not even get to speak to anyone. In desperation I got on to the AA and asked them to get someone from IGCS to phone me. To give them credit I did get a call back in 30mins. However there is still no sign of the "brown bill". They do not appear to know who the "brown bill" is from. Watch this space ..

General Comments

I think the AA should stick to what they do best....fixing cars. Travel insurance is best left to the experts that can give professional advice to claimants and are experts in their field and have the resources to answer phones and take messages and give comprehensive advice as to what is required by them when submitting a claim.
