General Comments

Being of Japanese origin, I had been very curious about Lost In Translation for a long time as many foreign friends of mine recommended it to me. At first, I was upset, encountering a number of Japanese people speaking in weird English or acting strangely. I thought this film was just making fun of Japan. But I cannot say that everything described in the film is absolutely false because some of it bears a resemblence to Japanese culture. I also liked the story but I especially enjoyed the description of my country through the view of foreigners. It is interesting not only for non-Japanese people to get an impression of Japan but also for the Japanese to know how foreigners picture our society.
