Good Points

Huge LCD, AA batteries, 5mp, great Zeiss zoom lens, compact, best movie mode, made of metal.

Bad Points

No AE lock, no LCD protection, limited manual mode.

General Comments

The Sony CyberShot DSC-W12 is a great starter/second/dSLR backup camera. Can print up to A3+ prints. Manual mode is limited (in aperture range) but still quite usable- see the effects of changing exposure! Could never do that with film cameras! AA batteries mean you can take it anywhere on the planet and not worry about spares. LCD is huge, which is great for reviewing, and composing, except in direct sunlight (in the Mediterranean...). I would have liked to have seen AE lock function. Has lots of options: lenses, underwater housing, etc.

Great camera.
