Wow, I'm surprised by all the bad reviews of the Oreck XL. I've had mine for 5 years, after going through two Hoovers in four years (the disposable vacuum cleaner), and I've never had a problem. It works great, picks up dog/cat hair wonderfully (I have two golden retrievers and two cats!), and have never had belt problems, or any other problem. It's been a great buy for me, and it is very light, which is great for me because I have 3 levels in my home to vacuum, and lots of stairs, plus my 9 and 11 year old daughters can easily handle it up and down stairs too. I definitely give it a "thumbs up"!
