Good Points

It was very close to the beach and various bars and restaraunts. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable it made me feel right at home.

Bad Points

It was in the process of being refurbished and therefore looked unfinished from the outside and the views we not fantastic (if you didn't have an ocean view room). It felt like you were looking at a cliff, the windows were huge and there was no safety catch so the windows could open all the way. With the window seat, you find yourself relaxing so much you may forget and lean back or sideways and drop out of the window and there was a huge drop from the window. So with no safety barriers so it definitely would not be ideal for someone with children.

General Comments

My friend and I stayed at Coral Lane Beach Apartments (which was formally called paynes bay apartments) and we really enjoyed ourselves. I told people that I was staying in St. James for a month, they thought that I had won the lottery but the apartments were very reasonable even to us and we were students on a very very tight budget.

I would say that it is more like a guest house than apartments, we were a bit put off by the outside as it wasn't very inviting and all the locals referred to it as "that ugly white building behind the church" (so if you stay there be warned that's the only way taxi drivers will know where to pick you up from) but the inside was still very nice. All the rooms were self-catering. The rooms were spacious and had a huge TV (cable) small, bathroom, microwave, two ring stove kettle etc. There is a window seat where you can sit and look out onto the beach which was beautiful. Obviously the rooms were very basic but we were still very comfortable

The Apartments are set on the edge of a small residential area where everyone seemed very friendly, happy and helpful, its actually in paynes bay and the beach is literally just across the road where the sea is lovely and calm. The apartments are also within walking distance from daphnes (Go during happy hour the cocktails are lovely).

A very short bus ride north and you are in holetown which is the closest place for shopping, banking, fast food etc. I would definitely go back there with a group of friends and I would recommend these apartments to couples or groups of friends who would love to stay in St James and are travelling on a budget. As we saw people of all ages staying there. It definitely would not be suitable for a family with young children though.
