General Comments

I love my Sony NW-E407 Network Walkman, it's good looking and the features are everything you would want or need from a 1Gb flash player. The display is looks fantastic and is easy to read, although in bright sunlight may be difficult to see. Navigating your music is simple, with an easy to understand grouping and menu system. The battery life is simply astounding, with SONY claiming at least 50 hours, and charge times via USB are miniscule. It is ultralight and compact, but feels quite durable.

The only complaint I have really, is the software, which didn't work out of the box. I had to patch Windows XP before SonicStage would even start up, and then adding your library is a painstaking process, as it chokes on large directories. I had to resort to adding one letter at a time (eg. all the 'A' artists, then 'B', etc.) They really need to open it up to simple drag and drop access through Windows.

hi, i have a different network walkman, and the sonic stage is very handy and the easy to use. I dont find it hard to install or to sort out music. And the music is 2 x less size incomparison to the same music file only on an mp3 format. I think that Sonicstage is pretty good, but i would ask if that sony would add a burning capability. Overall, it is pretty good

I also don't like SonicStage, and have only tried to use it once. I've installed the "drag and drop mp3 file manager" instead.
It installs a little exe on the flash drive itself, so it will work wherever you may decide to plug the device in. You run the program from the flash drive and drag-drop your MP3 files into the main window, using folders to sort them into playlists. Works like a charm!
