Roomy
Very Economical
Pleasant to drive
Rear seat arrangement
Good finish
Hard Ride
Intermittent wipers have no variable delay
Expensive major service
Sometimes steams up when parked
This is similar to the Honda Jazz 1.4SE Sport, but without the alloy wheels and side airbags. The engine is identical.
This is a very good car, marred only by its overly harsh ride. Strangely, it's fine over pot holes, but on what can appear to be a smooth surface it transmits every little bump through, making it uncomfortable for anyone with a bad back. I also own a Skoda Felicia, which has a better ride.
Economy is very good, I average 49mpg (measured by the pumps, not by the slightly optimistic meter) and the engine is very refined, giving a good performance for the economy.
Ventilation is good, but using the air conditioning can cause the car to steam up afterwards, particularly when parked.
Gear change and steering are light and pleasant, and the dashboard ergonomics are good too. It's a pity though that Honda economised on the intermittent wiper facility by excluding a variable delay.
The Jazz is amazingly roomy for its size and the rear seat arrangement is very practical. The seats are very comfortable, even the rear ones are quite good, which in a car of this class is probably unique.
Overall, if Honda could improve its ride, the Jazz would be an outstanding car.
