Good Points

It has an attractive front and a smartlink which I thought to be useful in connection with a Sony TV. Title list is convinient. You can select the quality of recording.

Bad Points

Just about everything else, sometimes it records sometimes not. It takes up to five minutes to load the DVD info before you can do anything. It is very deep it projects from a normal Sony TV stand.

General Comments

Unreliable, you set the timer but the Sony RDR GX3 does not always record.
Unpredictably, some of the recorded DVDs become unreadable and you have to throw them away.
When used in conjunction with Sony TV via smartlink it is impossible to change the recording chanel on the DVD.

I found the same problems with this machine; mine was basically unreliable. In the end, the shop has agreed to take it back.

The original report was very helpful - it is always reassuring to discover that one is not alone!

My machine would tend to drop out of record with a "disk dirty" message which would only be held for a short time on the screen (I'm using brand new Sony DVD-RW disks). But, in doing so, I think the recorder attempts to start a new chapter - ie 2(2) which ends up blank. Useful "hard" evidence to show to a sceptical dealer!
