Good Points

The staff are pleasant even under pressure.

Bad Points

1. The leg space between seats is unbearable tight.
2.The Airline seems completely indifferent to the needs of its customers and simply does what suits it to meet its own requirements.

General Comments

Spanair:
The plane was filled to capacity and the space between seats and between rows was so tight that even a short female (such as me) could not be comfortable. The back row seats in particular were so tight that those occupying them could not move.

The Airline made a decision to reroute our "direct" flight from Gran Canaria to Dublin throgh Madrid, adding several hours to our journey. Initially they lied to us about the reason for this. Eventually it was revealed that the pilot's grandfather had died the night before and in order to facilitate him attending the funeral 168 people were dumped at Madrid airport, unassisted, forced to go throgh police and secruity checks (having spent three hours doing this at Las Palmas at our departure). No recognition was given to the distress and inconvenience caused to the passengers by their actions. Some passengers got lost, most were very confused, all were hungry and tired (having had to leave our resorts at 4.00 am to catch the flight originally) We were given left over roles and water/juice when we reboarded and when pressed, a cursory apology. I asked for an agent to be available to discuss the fact that many of us who had onward journeys would be forced to remain in Dublin overnight thus incurring unexpected additional expense. I was assured that such an agent would be available to help. However, when I eventually located him he emptyed his pockets to demonstate that he had no resources or authority to "help". In other words Spanair used him to stonewall the complaints while they disappeared. He advised that Panorama the tour operater was the agent to which we had to address our complaints. Later he advised that Panorama had informed him that they were essentially not interested in responding. Many of the passengers on board that flght advised me that I would be wasting my time attempting to get either the airline or the tour operator to take an interest in my needs. I had hoped they were wrong, however it seems not. My advice to anyone considering using either Panorama or Sparair is to think again. One thing is certain you will not be important to them.
