Good Points
- Probbably the most accurate bolt action .22LR rifle in the world.
- Great price
- Light weight
- Comfortable, pointable
- Very pretty stock and blueing on action and barrel
- Sling Swivel Wood Screw comes standard
- Adjustable, crisp, trigger pull
- Comes with a 5 round detachable magazine
- Scope-friendly, as it has the popular 3/8 (1") rails
Bad Points
Bore is tight, which could make it a bit tough to clean. But there is a very simple solution for that (see review).
General Comments
The CZ ZKM 452 American .22 LR Gun is pure QUALITY.
If you are looking for the most accurate, dependable bolt-action .22, the 452 American is your answer!
Just ask the CZ folks at Rimfirecentral.com. You'll only hear positive comments about this high quality precision rifle.
A 0.5" group at 50 yards is not a problem for the 452 American. If you just try a little, you can almost always produce sub 0.5" groups.
At 100 yards, 1" groups are easily achieved. I've seen numerous 0.5" groups at 100 yards.
If you want the trigger to break like glass, I reccommend getting the Brookie Trigger Kit for $9.00 at http://www.whittakerguns.com. It's a drop-in, very simple installation. You can see the installation instructions (including simple diagrams) can be found here: http://cz452.com/springkit.html
As for cleaning the tight bore, I just use a .17 cleaning rod, no problem.

1/2" groups at 50 yards will not make it the most accurate bolt action in the world. 1/4" groups would be getting close.

1/2" groups is what I can produce with the 452 with "closed eyes" at 50 yards. And I was just providing my shooting ability. And I am not that good of a shot as I used to be in my young ages.
I know many, many people who can produce one-holers at 50 yards regularly.

Just wondering: have you had any experience, or do you have any knowledge of the 452?

i own 3 cz rifles, 223 american, and 452 mach2 17, and now a 452 zkm, 22lr, all are VERY accurate, nice hunting guns, all metal and they feel "good". i like the mini mouser action of the 223. not heavy, easy to carry all day, adjustable set trigger is very crisp, if you don't like to shoot, you wouldn't like them, otherwise i recommend them highly. ron

This trigger kit is $9 you say? Is it available in England? I'm very interested in my rifle to be having the best trigger possible. I can provide match ammunition no problem, sell it by the bucket load at my range. For cleaning, the bolt does come out right? When I had a quick hold of it I didn't see any obvious bolt removing button, or is it removed like the Enfield bolts?

The bolt is removed by opening the bolt, and simply pulling and holding down the trigger while pulling the bolt back out of the rifle.

Probably the most accurate bolt action .22LR rifle in the world? The CZ's are great guns, and highly accurate, I own several, but that may be stretching it a bit. For example I can't see how they could outshoot an Anschutz.

I am just about ready to pick up a .17hmr and a .22lr American for hunting. I will review them both at a later date. Thanks for the reviews.
