Good Points

M3= class, engineering, heritage, technology. This car is THE total performance car. This lastgeneration of M car even took the driver's instrument gaze in consideration - something no other car maker does. Everything is slighly turned to the left. The instrument bezel is contoured precisely into the top eye of the steering wheel and control clusters are marked for easy use. The NAV is the best. Big screen. Inset just enough to keep daylight glare off and very hi-def screen. Not a squeek in the car and buttoned to the road.
The Virginia State Trooper who pulled me over outside of Richmond doing 95, loved the car and suggested I get internal stealth radar deflector.
That, and lojack (or when BMW offers the GPS theft tracker through BMW assist) are the two hidden items on an M3 list - then natch, the DINNON full upgrade. So, for 70g, you have all the bells and whistles above the 500bhp mark in the best performance car on the road in the world.

Bad Points

How can you really say anything BAD about an M3? You have to pick it apart so I still only find one thing - too small for my taste as a coupe. Well, that is it.

General Comments

I can't believe how many amateurs have this notion that because some cheap Nippon names that are totally void of quality and class, and for that matter, nothing impressive but an engine - would begin to compare cars like EVOs and WRXs to an M3.
You have to look at the big picture and the long term. Some of the things that the children miss in these equations are "will the car be worth fifty cents when I go to sell it?" and will it exude as much staying power class in a year as the Bavarian Bad Boy? Why screw around unless you just dont have the money? Then a JETTA is actually more fun than a EVO and looks better - otherwise boys, put your money where your foot is and don't forget to have the carboard in your spokes!

    M3 is 343bhp......

The BMW M3 with 343bhp in a heavy 6 cylinder car with rear wheel drive... Where my "nippon" Impreza STI (WR1) is happily running 348bhp and 356lbft.
Residual value, Who cares.... If you can't afford the depreciation and running costs of a performance car, don't buy one!
