General Comments

I'd been unsure whether to go for the .177 or the Webley & Scott Nemesis .22, but finding a second hand one in mint condition for £55 decided me on the .22! The build quality is outstanding as you'd expect from Webley, my only two gripes are that the sights are too wide for my liking, and the grip is large and square.

One of the things I love about the Nemesis is that it looks a bit like a Desert Eagle, and I guess the boxy grip is a styling thing to echo the DE. It's not as comfortable to hold as the Tempest, but nothing major. I'd also have liked the sights to be about half the width they are, as at eight metres (the length of my garden) they completely obscure the centre of the target. I'm looking at getting it a Speedpoint instead.

The two (minor) negatives are completely outweighed by how great this pistol is to shoot! I shot a 2" group at 8 metres the day I received it. I'm not a very good shot, and the same target fired at with my Tempest looked like a shotgun blast. (My lack of skill rather than the Tempest I bet) I mounted a pistol scope to the Nemesis, and shot a 1" group at the same distance. It's so accurate that I ended up taking the scope off again after a few minutes as it was too easy!

Power ratings for this gun vary wildly, but in practical terms I can't see a difference between the Nemesis and Tempest, and Webley quote the same figures on their website. They both punch neat holes through beer cans and CD's, which is power enough for me as a casual plinker.

Recoil is virtually non-existent, which for me is a good thing. There is a slight one as the pellet leaves the muzzle, but not enough to affect accuracy. It's quieter than the Tempest and a LOT quieter than my mate's C02 pistol, discharging with a subtle crack.

You do get a lot for your money with the Nemesis, shopping around should find you one for about £90, (black, the silver one is more expensive) and in my opinion you'd be hard pressed to find a better gun for the money.

I have both the Huricane (.22) and the Nemesis (.177) and in common with almost everyone I ignore the sights fitted and use a red dot (Hawke 35 on the Huricane & a cheapo tv screen thing on the Nemesis) on both. The plastic rail on the Huricane is OK providing you put the lock washers back after removing the backsight and tighten up the red dot or scope properly on to it. The weight of the Hawke acts as a bit of a counterbalance since it is over my wrist and I get annoyed if I get less (More?) than an inch group at 6 Metres. The cheap tv screen sight on the Nemesis has improved my accuracy beyond belief and I am now trying for half inch groups at 6 Metres. I have made a few targets with the bull having a centre ring 5mm in diameter and a second at 6mm to indicate dead centre. So far I have only ever hit it with the Nemesis. I am also using pellet lube but if you don't fancy paying shop prices put 3 drops of brake fluid into a tin of pellets and see the difference. The tv style sight is so that I can mount it as far forward as possible and it will not interfere with my hand when I close the pistol.
As far as power goes the Nemesis penetrates better at short range but the heavier .22 carries the day from about 6 metres to 15 after that I won't take the shot as I want to kill vermin not torture them. Either pistol will take out something the size of a cat at 10 metres if you use a head shot
