yes Tholzel's recommendation

Good Points

The only "hollowpoint" pellet that actually expands.

Bad Points

Ballistic coefficient not that great.

General Comments

The Beeman Crow Magnum Pellets came about when--as an experiment--I shot a pellet out of an air rifle backwards. It practically blew apart a blue jay. This led to a collaboration with Dr. Robert Beeman who finalized the design.

A photo of a spent .22-cal CrowMagnum pellet can be seen at: http://www.velocitypress.com/air_rifle_ballistics.php ,at the bottom of the page. This was shot out of a (FAC) RWS Model 48 (21 ft-lbs) and hit the red squirrel at 37 yds in the armpit, traveling though its body and lodging against the hide of his rump.

SHOOTING A RED SQUIRREL!!! THERE ARE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES!!!!!

  3. Tholzel Rank: Staff Sergeant on 17th Aug 2005

Red squirrels are not endangered in Maine. They are major pests that get into homes, bear baby squirrels, litter & poop in your attic and make a mess throughout.

If there not indangered in Maine then fair enough but in england we rarely see them and i get mighty cheesed off when i hear that some one has killed one.

why would someone blow apart a blue jay!

Blue jays are the bully breed of bird in my area. The vineyards are full of them. Blue jays are worse than the crows.

    1) I have a bird feeder for the small finches that live in my area. They are red, chartreuse and yellow. They bring beauty to my garden.

    2) Blue jays will always empty the feeder, dumping everything onto the ground.

    3) Blue jays will chase, peck, dive bomb from above or kill the smaller birds away. They do every year.

    4) Blue jays ravage my sun flowers. I usually let the smaller birds eat their fill. But the larger blue jays will land on the sunflower eat its fill if not snap the stalk of the plant.

    5) Blue jays are noisy and when roosting or in congregation, poop all over everything.

    6) Plastic owls do not work. Nor does the presence of my cat that they dive peck on.
