Flexibility is unmatched in the industry for a semi hi-end multi channel power amp. The sound performance is clear and demanding with ceiling or wall mounted spearks when used as a multi zone amplifier. Birded, multi zone configurations along with I/R or ABUS control make integration into whole house audio system very easy. The music sense by zone makes it run economical in the power and heat budgets.
All of the flexibility seems to come with a price! After one year of operation the system STOPPED! PLAYING ALL CHANNELS WENT OUT. The indicator lamps on the front panel that indicate status of the channel come up in a different state each time the amp is powered down and powered back up (loaded or unloaded with speakers) Seems to me like the fancy logic board required for the multi configuration options and Abus control took a d..mp.
When working, this Harman Kardon PA 4000 unit really sounds good, sweet clear and demanding. The options for configuration make it good in almost any situation when used for multi-zone operation or to drive your Dolby 7.1. 6.1 surround systmes. Now I'm testing the Harmon Kardon service loop as this unit is in for repair.
