General Comments

We called Dreamticket to book a holiday to Dubai over the kids half term in February. Because we had left it quite late there were no beach hotels left. Our reservations consultant however was absolutely brilliant. She suggested a few alternative beach hotels in neighbouring cities to Dubai, as well as some very good value city hotels that provided free beach access.

However, she suggested that if we really wanted to experience Arabian culture, have a great holiday on the beach and stay in great "Dubai style" 5* hotels, we should try Muscat in Oman. As we go to Dubai at least twice a year, we were not keen to venture into a different destination, but she convinced us, directing us to look up the Grand Hyatt in Muscat on their dedicated Oman website (www.dreamoman.com).

The website is brilliant. You can tailor the entire holiday online, from hotel to room type even down to the meal plan you want. We chose premium economy on British Airways and 5 nights at the Grand Hyatt Muscat. The four of us paid £868 each, which we thought was brilliant value for money especially as we were travelling premium economy on British Airways which is as good as business class on some other airlines.

The hotel is delightful, and you feel a real sense of being in the Middle East, something we never found in Dubai. Oman is a great destination for all families, and does not have the high profile of Dubai, but is certainly a destination worth considering for those who want just the little bit more.
