Good Points

It's Star Trek, so guaranteed to have good special effects, sets, and Cast.

Bad Points

Never ending episodes that go on for weeks at a time.

General Comments

I remember the first time I saw "Enterprise" coming soon to a TV near me in a TV guide I didn't even know it was Star Trek until I saw the show. I thought maybe it was a spin off of the TV show on CBS called JAG, you know "And Admiral, It is the Enterprise" spoken by Chekov in Star Trek IV? OK so it was in the past, far past, I mean so far back that Kirk is not even born in this time line, and neither is Spock! And of course I wouldn't expect the tech level of this show to be less advanced as the tech in the Original Star Trek. After all that would be stupid and the ship would have the tech level of a Great War Warship if they did that. They get a pass from that because, it only makes sense to have LCD screens everywhere! The opening music, I liked the first 5 episodes I saw and then it got really old, it got so old that Deep Space Nines music started sounding good, or maybe even Voyager. The beginning music and scene changed after the first season and got much more graphical and they called it Star Trek Enterprise in the second season. I like the beginning; it is neat to see the advancements. But one of the star ships towards the end of the opening sure looks like a Romulan Bird of Prey from ST:TOS.

I can understand why they have never ending to be continued episodes (mini series with in the series) instead of one week shows. Because they are much cheaper to make and write. And any series after this one will have the same thing going for it I bet. OK fine, so be it, that is what I have a VCR for! However Deep Space Nine was the first to do this, but they had the Dominion War as the main plot and ALWAYS HAD SUB PLOTS going also. Eneterprise lacks in this as they basically make small movies and extend them over weeks and weeks of programming which makes reruns really annoying because you basically know that for the next 4-7 weeks there will be nothing new, which is OK too since they foolishly moved the day of Enterprise to Friday night and I can go out with out setting the VCR to tape it.

One thing I absolutely can not forgive was the Xindi plot for an entire season. Besides being a rip off of a Star Wars world, 5 races on one planet with sentient being? Yeah OK whatever but. Insectoids? Reptillians? Monkeymen? Human? And Whalemen? Then to top that confusion all of these races have their own ships? If there is ANYTHING that killed this series it was the Xindi, no wait what killed it was after Earth was saved and the Xindi became peaceful against Earth, Enterprise was thrust into another never ending plot about WWII and aliens helping Nazi's take the world. That is what did it in.

I like this show, do not get me wrong. I loved that out of all the Star Treks ever made, this is the one I could actually imagine myself being a part of because it is so realistic. I was sad to hear that it was canceled because besides the Xindi and a few other never ending plots it was a pretty good show with so much potential. I even liked how they explained the no ridge forehead Klingons. But the never ending episodes did ENT in. Star Trek doesn't make its money from the first time it is aired it makes its money off Reruns and making Mini Series or MicroMovies with in the show was just stupid.

I know, what a long review. I'll stop by saying, It was a good show, with a good cast and it could have done well, The next Generation well if it just had more episodes instead of all the never ending episodes. I will buy all 4 seasons on DVD but only if I can get them cheap off an online auction.
