Good Points
Slot loading, quiet operation, digital audio connector
Bad Points
As with other Pioneers the unit generates a fair bit of heat when pushed hard
General Comments
The Pioneer DVD 106S DVD drive is basically the same as the 116 but with slot-loading (so cool) and a 2pin digital audio out connector. It has a volume wheel and stereo headphones jack on the front. The UDMA66 IDE speed means theres no worries about data bottlenecks, and even though it's only rated at 40x CD (16x DVD), the audio extraction rate is superb. What more can I say? If this drive stopped working I would buy the same model again.
