Overall Rating

5 stars
  • Where Did You See It?
    Television
  • Starring Actor/Actress
    Arnold Schwarzenegger

Pumping Iron - 25th Anniversary was the most important step for a young Arnold Schwarzenegger to go into the history books as the all time greatest bodybuilder, as well as beginning a career in film. This Documentary was the film that introduced Arnold to the world.

At the time this film was made, bodybuilding had a bad reputation and was made fun of all because people didnt understand the concept of what these massive men were trying to accomplish. This documentary set all that straight. It put personalities and charisma with all the characters and it showed them preparing for the Olympia.

It is truly a must see for any fitness or Arnold Fan. It gets a 12 out of 10 stars, because it was so well done and all the extras on the DVD let you further behind the scenes to discover what it took to make this truly ground breaking documentary which caterpoulted a young 28 year old Austrian bodybuilder - Arnold Schwarzenegger into stardom.

I have to agree with you on this review. This was the first bodybuilding video I ever saw and it inspired me to start to lift weights. The way the filmakers managed to get into that circle to where they were part of the family made this feel so much more personal. The highs and lows are felt when watching it as you come to feel like you know them so well.

On the extras you get to see behind the scenes but also how much schwarzenegger knew and felt his destiny lied in both films and politics. One scene shows him layout his goals and they have become so real its scary and shows what you can achieve when you put your mind and heart into something.
I highly recommend you see this even if you are not into bodybuilding as it will draw you in.
