Good Points

Cheap (and nasty), saves desk space by merging print and scan components into one unit.
Scanner works reasonably well.

Bad Points

Endless problems with print heads.
Replacement inks way too expensive.
Un-intuitive and intrusive software user interface.
Cheap and nasty.

General Comments

After deciding to purchase the Lexmark X2250 multifunction printer instead of buying a scanner and printer separately, I wish I hadn't.
Upon installation of the included software (why oh why do manufacturers insist on using PAPER sleeves that DON'T fit in a CD rack???), I was immediately greeted by a menu that although attempted to be helpful, ended up being excessively complex due to endless menus and submenus based on tasks and troubleshooting questions. The driver software also insisted on placing an icon in my already-cluttered system tray that you can't get rid of unless you disable the driver altogether. This is also a gateway to endless unnecessary popups outlining print and scan progress (which is already covered by the host software anyway).
Sadly, after pages upon pages wasted trying to get the print heads to clean, the nozzles were permanently blocked resulting in unsatisfactory prints, making me and my business look unprofessional. What was even more confusing is the allignment of the nozzles never stayed the same for each page. On one page, the graphics looked sharp and crisp (bar the streaks caused by the blocked nozzles), yet if I printed an identical page immediately after, it would print blurry and fuzzy.
To give the unit some credit, the scanner worked reasonably well. After a few short steps needed to callibrate, the quality of the scans proved acceptable to the above-average consumer. This does not, however, redeem the unit's unsatisfactory print performance and I intend to get rid of it as soon as I can. Stay away from it!

I found this review very helpful because it describes exactly the same problems we had with our x2250 non-printer!!
