Good Points

Gives the same good results that I get with the EOS 300 film camera but with all the advantages of being able to use my own 'digital darkroom'.

Bad Points

Build quality - but then they had to do something to break the price barrier.

General Comments

Most of the other reviewers have covered all that needs to be said. I note that the Nikon D70 gets a better overall review in Digital Photo Magazine but when you look at the important comparisons such as picture quality, etc. the Canon beats the D70 in those categories. At the end of the day it is the quality of the photo that I am after. After a few weeks of shooting fine quality jpegs I did some reading on RAW format and moved over. Initially used Photoshop Camera Raw but didn't see the startling improvement that everyone seemed to suggest. Found a free program called Raw Shooter Essentials from Pixmantec (use a search engine and you will be taken to the download) and this has changed everything. The photos I am now getting with RAW shooting and RSE processing really make the camera stand out. I have recently been bought the Canon EF 75-300mm zoom lens and this takes my photography into another phase. At just over 6MP this camera and these lenses should last for years - you don't need to get onto the merry go round of constantly upgrading the megapixels.
