Written on: 06/04/2005 by B Daltri

Good Points
Staff were very friendly, hotel and grounds were very clean, Food in half board was excellent.

Bad Points
Zoo animals were in a terrible state apart from the rats that played on the lawn. Cockroaches in the bar. Aircraft noise. Paper thin walls

General Comments
From the moment we arrived we knew that it was not going to be the holiday of a lifetime. Although Sahara Beach was very clean a re-furb would not go a miss! When talking to another guest we decided that it was more of a working mans social club atmosphere and decor. The entertainment was varied although the Skanes bar was designed for the English? Bingo is an experience not to be missed, remember the words 'Aja-Ja' and you will be fine. The rep appeared to be concerned although nothing much was done about complaints. In the zoo, the animals had green water when we arrived and no food with very dirty cages although the following week when we were leaving they were clean with the sick animals removed apart from the monkey that chewed it's own tail off in frustration! Whilst horse-riding on the beach one of the guides horses was very lame but when i told the guide I was told it was fine? The rooms are very spacious. If you are in room 1509 the patio door does open on it's own. The football ground in the corridor is wonderful especially as parents think that on holiday their children are not their responsibility. This is very frustrating when I have 2 children aged 13 and 11 who were not allowed to do this. Noise is a problem as you cannot sleep at night until after 2am and you are awoken at 5am even in the afternoon it is not possible as football is carried out in the corridor! And although not on the flight path the hotel is not far from the airport (How loud are airoplanes?) The instore jeweller is excellent value and very honest! the supermarket is only ten min walk away. And much cheaper for anything you need rather than the hotel shop. The pictures on tv are very old and do not give a true image of the hotel although the staff are excellent and deserve to be in a top class hotel.
