Good Points

I bought a Fabia 1.4 MPI Comfort and am getting rid of it after 3 years, with some regret. It was cheap to buy, extremely reliable, roomy (unless you try to cram a third adult into the back) low insurance class and economical to drive both for petrol (up to 50 miles/gallon without trying on 70mph cruises) and servicing costs. Full size spare wheel - used on more than one occasion. For reselling it seems to have depreciated pretty well.

Bad Points

It's not the most exciting of packages. A failed rear windscreen washer was the only (easily fixed) fault in 3 years' driving. A couple of blown bulbs - the left-hand side headlight pod is a swine to get at; cramped by large air-filter(?) box.

General Comments

This Skoda Fabia 1.4 has been a good car for me, and I've had a few turkeys. I got one of the last made before ABS became standard, but haven't missed that. Electrics in particular are nice and solid (VW influence?). A good road-holder, decent acceleration without being in any way sporty. The 1.2 model was a bit underpowered by comparison. Interior is a bit bland, though the newer models are looking more adventurous. But it's the reliability that stands out. 10K mile servicing looked good 3 years ago, but 20K mile service intervals are becoming more the norm nowadays.
