Strong construction, compact and reasonably powerful
Held together with roll pins
I bought an Webley Tempest .22 this morning at a car boot sale. It looked a right shed of a pistol, but I've always fancied one of these so I handed over a few quid and looked forward to a bit of work.
Initially it was a bit rattly to fire as a test, so on with the stripping!
It took quite a while to find suitable drifts to remove the roll pins that holds these pistols together, come on Webley, this is just lazy on a weapon that retails for over £100.
Everything was cleaned out and all the components put back together with Molyslip gun grease.
The piston was cleaned as the non contact areas were quite rusty, the trigger bearing points were polished up a little.
The gun is now much quieter to use and feels to be pretty accurate (I'm not a good pistol shot), there was hardly any discernable wear internally so it should last a good few years more now. Now looking for a BSA Scorpion, another pistol desired from my childhood!
