Fantastic customer care, free technical support on services, Industry beating Broadbnad service, good lineup of cable TV channels (not many rubbish shopping and Info channels), possibility of VOD which launches soon and a Sky+ beating service in their new PVR service.
Bad Points
No company is perfect, for every person that says Telewest is great there will be someone to say it is rubbish. Personally I have never had any issues with any service apart from a few outages on Broadband which have been resolved within a few hours. The cable TV boxes provided by Pace are of poor quality and affect the service by creating lag while changing channels and crash sometimes (depending on their model). The box also creates a lot of heat and can be sore to the touch. The telephone bills cannot show calls made if you have talk package meaning you cant see if your benefiting from the services. The billing can be confusing sometimes with the advance charges, especially if you change your package often. Finally, there is no option to bar specific phone numbers dialling your phone line as the network doesnt support this whereas BT can offer this service.
General Comments
Telewest Broadband is the smallest of the two cable companies in the UK providing service to 1.7 million customers from Edinburgh to Plymouth. I have used the service for over a year now and am thouroughly impressed by the Broadband and telephone services. The TV service isnt the best but provides a menu system easier to use than Sky's and also less junk channels which stremalines the package meaning we pay less for our packages. The broadband services are all unrestricted and provide super fast access at competitive prices. The telephone service has a few issues with billing and such as reviewed above but not issues that would merit switching to another provider. Besides some issues with the billing and the telephone features that dont match BT's options, there is really no way you should be without Telewest if you live in a cabled area.
