General Comments
The JVC UX-P550 is a nice looking little hi-fi with a good sound.
This model is a DVD micro hi-fi that should according to the instructions play DVD-R.
While it plays shop bought DVD's with no problems.
I have yet to find a DVD-R that will work.
Every time I insert a DVD-R I get a message onscreen saying CANNOT PLAY THIS DISC.
I have tried several DVD-R media with no joy.
I have up to now sent three e-mails to JVC asking them for assistance or an answer. I am still awaiting a reply. It seems that once they get your money they don't care.
It is the fact that it wont play DVD-R and JVC's don't care attitude that the overall rating is marked down.

i own this model and had the same problem with cd -r play back. i contacted jvc they were not helpful at all.

After 6 e-mails I finally got an answer from JVC. It appears that the unit does play DVD-R.
You have to use 8 x media, I was using 4 x.
If this had been stated in the instruction manual it would have saved a lot of bother.
I have tried a couple of 8 x media (Sumvision & Ritek) and both worked perfectly. I would now like to change the overall score to 7, it would be higher but for JVC'S slow response.
