vinbody's Review of Hoegaarden

Overall Rating
- Value for money

I have drank many different wheat beers, but this one has a very distinct flavor to it. Unlike any other beer I have ever tasted, Hoegaarden (white) has a very unique palate indeed! I very much enjoyed this tasty treat, however, I came upon it by accident the other day at the grocerie store. Realizing that even though it was out of my price range for libations, I was intrigued by the notion of consuming a "white beer". Little did I know that Hoegaarden was merely a hefeweisen with a sveltness brought on by the taste of corriander and orange peel. Quite unique indeed!
Bad Points
I live in America, so it is impossible to indulge in any other products from Hoegaarden such as "Forbidden Fruit", a brew that is far too alcoholic for most Western tastes.
General Comments
Hoegaarden is a great beer if you can afford it. I believe that if you live in North America such as I do, you may feel that the price is a bit too much. However, dont pass it up if you see it in your local beer isle. It is definitely a beer worthy of apprecation by connoisseurs.

It also claims to be the 'original white beer' - this probably refers to the fact that the original Hoegaarden was revived in the 1960s, sparking off a general revival of the style.
