General Comments

Air Arms S400 Carbine.22cal:
After years of shooting springers had to buy one to see what all the fuss was about, went to western park game keeping fair paid £4 shot all the models that was on my short list, didn't buy any of them bought this air arms S400 carbine direct of air arms (got a good deal. rifle, pump a cap & pellets for £420) Have not regretted it they are so easy to shoot accurately don't regret not getting the S410 I can load mine as quick as my friends Logun S16 I use air arms hunter pellets extremely accurate have been told that you can increase the ft lbs by removing a security torx type screw on the right hand side of the action and turning another allen type screw anti clockwise? to approx 18ft lbs I will be buying a chronometer shortly and will find out if this is true but will put back to 12 ft lbs as I haven't a fire arms certificate

I'm currently looking to buy a pcp. I had narrowed my search down to 3. The Logun Solo, Falcon FN19R and this Air Arms S400. I've now excluded this one from my choice. Under current Airgun law any air rifle with a maximum power output of 12fbs and over requires a FAC. If it is possible to adjust the power on this rifle to above the 12fbs limit then surely it qualifies as a fac weapon, Regardless of what power setting you have it on, It's maximum power output is still over the legal limit. This is obviuosly a technicality issue but one i'm not getting involved with, Hence the reason I won't be buying one. There could be a lot of people out there unaware they own a FAC rifle.

Have you tried loading a logun solo with pellets?
Pure rubbish design, DON'T DISMISS THE AIR ARMS IT IS FAR SUPERIOR TO EITHER THE FALCON OR LOGUN SOLO!

I e-mailed a copy of my previous comment to Airarms expressing my concern about this rifle and the current airgun laws, Apparently under current airgun laws it's not an offence (without fac) to have a rifle capable of producing more than the 12fbs limit as long as it's set below that limit. How long that will last i dont know, I think it's a case of make hay while the sun shines. Alex at airshooter.co.uk has this rifle for £299.95 I might have to give him a call. A copy of Airarms reply to my e-mail is below:

    Dear Mr ******
In essence you are correct, it is also correct to state that all PCP rifles sold in this country can be adjusted/modified to exceed 12ft/lbs, some more easily than others.

As the legislation is applied at the moment an offence is committed if a person is actually in possession of a weapon that produces over 12ft/lbs at the time of apprehension. Air Arms sets up rifles using Air Arms Field pellets at a velocity that will not exceed 12ft/lbs with most of the well known pellets. If these settings are not altered and a less well known pellet is not used there is little likelihood of falling foul of the law.

Our advise is to use Air Arms pellets and not attempt to adjust the settings, this is clearly stated in the Hand Book. If any other pellet is to be used then the velocity must be checked and the muzzle energy calculated to ensure conformity with the regulations.

    Best regards
