It is with regret that I have nothing good to say about the Zodiac studios

Air conditioning

The standard of cleanliness was appalling at Zodiac Studio Apartments. When entering the studios there is a notice at reception stating that a charge will be levied if the walls or towels are dirty upon departure. The rep raved on about how clean the studios were in comparison to others in the area all I can say is I can not imagine any worse than this place.

When we entered our studio the walls were filthy (I have the photos to prove it) we actually cleaned them for fear we would be blamed for getting them dirty.

The rooms were only cleaned twice a week. I have stayed elsewhere in Crete and the rooms were cleaned daily this believe you me is a necessity in a hot country where you are expected to place used toilet paper in a waste paper basket rather than flush it down the toilet, anything less than a once a day is frankly disgusting.

The air conditioning was simply recycling the air in the room rather than drawing in fresh air and cooling it, this is known to be a very unhealthy method of cooling down a room (gave me a very nasty sore throat and chest problems) a fact which the rep only admitted after we complained about it.

The extremely narrow beach was a good 15-20 minute walk from the Studios.

The room was on one side over looking to the side a main road with traffic noise going on well into the night. Straight ahead of us was the site the street cleaners left their rubbish carts after their days work and all around us were half constructed buildings. The decor in the room was outdated, bland and dull.

All in all it was the worst holiday I have ever experienced. Both the rep and the studios were appalling.

  What an awful review. You cleaned the walls yourself? why wouldnt just tell the staff that it was already there?
  
  Toilet paper in the waste basket? I stayed at the Zodiac last week and there is nothing that says you must throw it in the basket? thats just plain disgusting.
  
  I had a great time at Zodiac Studios. I noticed that the people that werent having a good time were also having problems with their groups of friends and also getting into trouble everywhere else.

  Unfortunately the toilet paper issue is one which happens all over Crete not just the Zodiac. There were notices in the toilets of every bar and restaurant we went to. The Rep at the hotel also made an issue of it at the welcome meeting, so as disgusting as it may be, it is a fact of life in Crete, that wasn't my complaint. My complaint was about the lack of cleaning which took place. I stayed in Crete a number of years ago and the room was cleaned every morning.

  we were there two and a half weeks ago and the cleaner was in everyday to clean the room. the staff were friendly, the rep was friendly.
