Too brief, but probably accurate. However, we need comparative info versus its competitors, especially the Beretta 687.

The 525 golden clays is a beautiful gun that is well balanced and reliable.

The 525 is truly an expression of Browning's commitment to excellence and competitiveness. The gun is well-balanced and has excellent swingability. Not to mention it comes with a beautiful American walnut stock. Although I believe they should at least come with a case for the price you pay for it!

I recently purchased the 525 Sporting Clay and I am very pleased with the performance. Besides the quality which is characteristic of the top-end Brownings, it has the beauty of simplicity. American Walnut with it oil matte finish has brought many compliments from my fellow shooters. For me, the point of aim is right on the bottom of the clay pigeon; however, some other shooters state the gun shoots a little high. Testing it on a trap range, I found that it patterns very tight and by backing down to a modified choke on the 16yd line, I was pulverizing the birds. The modified worked well back to the 22yd line and then I switched to the improved modified with good results. I patterned the Modified and Improved Modified chokes at @35yds and found that the pattern is roughly 60/40 for Modified and 55/45 for Improved Modified.
I prefer Browning O/U's over the Beretta due to the Beretta's not comb not being comfortable to me. After about 100 rounds, the Beretta tends to be uncomfortable to shoot for me, others state otherwise.
There are some issues with the 525 I wish to address, but others have stated some already. Considering the price, I would have expected a case with the shotgun. Beretta's come with such a case. Next is the availability of choke tubes; the Light Modified being difficult to find from vendors. The Midas chokes are not loosening for me while I shoot as others told me they would. I do have to watch this gun a little closer with large crowds at shoots for fear of theft. The last issue is my shooting style and the problem I have with the gun's swing. The 525 SC swings exceptionally well but a little fast for me. I tend to swing past the bird.
As a Gunsmith, I expect the 525SC to perform as expected from high end Citori. To date, I have no real gripes. I'll follow up after shooting 1000 rounds.

I totally agree with Doc's review. Having owned one for the last 4 Months, I find it an absolute pleasure to shoot with, and it has really taken over from my now virtually redundant 325.

The fine balance and perfect Comb (for me) has improved my Shooting no end. That’s not to say the 325 didn't fit me - it did, but everything about this gun is good as far as I'm concerned.

Cinergy?? Nahhhh you can keep it!!

I've been shooting a 12 gauge, 30" barrel 525 Sporting Clays for just over a year. I've found that while it is a bit heavier than what I hunt with (a Rizzini), that weight helps my swing when shooting both sporting clays & American skeet. It's my second Browning sporting clays, and I expect it to serve just as well-better?-as my old Ultra.
