General Comments

28 Days Later - After animal rights protesters break into an animal testing plant, they release the most deadly virus of all time. Rage, a disease carried by apes. A shocking opening then cuts 28 days later when a man (Cillian Murphy) wakes up from a coma to find that London is deserted. He is taken in by a man and a women who tell him about the powerful virus that swept England. The film then cascades into a rollercoster ride of disturbing scenes of a deserted London to shocking deaths of infected people. This truly was the most terryfying film I have ever seen. Even the acting's good, and this is a horror film.

This has got to be one of the worst films I have ever watched. Not scary, very badly overacted, and a very stupid storyline - been there, done that, and just another remake of yet another virus outbreak.........
A complete waste of my time watching it - not one to watch if you don't want to be bored!

Babrahams, did we watch the same film? 28 Days later was amazing. It was a homage to George Romero's zombie films, playing on Romero's themes about savagery and civilisation. It was a very intelligent film with loads of references for the horror film connoisseur. I would suggest that you go back and watch the first 3 in his trilogy: Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead (the original) and Day of the Dead and then come back to this film. You might also want to read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, or perhaps watch Apocalyspe Now because this is what he was trying to say. I found it chilling, especially because the release of a virus by accident which could kill us all is a possibility, a pandemic is not impossible. Reality is far scarier than anything Hollywood could ever dream up.
