Probably last for ever!
Based on a real gun.
possible to use for re-enactment with a little thought!
Grips are not comfortable
After reading the excellent reviews on here, and partly as I have an interest in Russian military firearms, I bought myself a Makarov. Other reviewers have gone into some depth regarding the operation of the gun. I would like to make some points that are relevant to other collectors and re-enactors regarding this gun. It is based on the Hi capacity (10 round) frame which was first produced in the 1980's to uprate the gun for military and police use. as a result, the frame is wider than the standard issue and gives more room for the Co2 parts. The frame and working parts all appear to be genuine Makarov parts. If you want to fit a magazine for display etc, you should bear in mind that you will need a 10 round mag which are hard to come by, even on the well known auction site! 8 round mags will fit but are loose at the bottom. The slide is not a real Mak slide. This is apparent when looking from underneath as there is no extractor cut out (no point on a Co2), No breach face and the front of the slide has a different profile to a live Mak. I think the new profile suits it though. The main point is the grips are horrible. they are very big and not comfortable to use. I bought some rubber Pearce grips (part no. Mak-10)from the USA, they cost less than £20 and are a dramatic improvement if you are going to shoot your Mak a lot and lets be honest here, who isn't??!! Wether you collect, shoot or re-enact, I recommend you seriously consider the Makarov, particularly when it's available for (just) under £60
