General Comments

Scissor Sisters, Scissor Sisters - W00t!! 1st review!!! Anyways *hype over* I first heard about Scissor Sisters when they did their first proper gig at Brighton Dome. At the time they had only 3 singles released 'Electrobix' 'Laura' & 'Take Your Mama' all of which were overlooked by our CD-buying public until that gig. Their phenomenal stage performance which included an amazing finale full of horror-movie characters has been described by singer Ana Matronic as their 'best performance ever.' Though not being received too well in their homeland America, Scissor Sisters have certainly caused a stir in Britain! But how did they do this? 'Laura'. By re-releasing this catchy tune (with 'Take Your Mama' already a part of the 'Scissorhood') they managed to secure re-playability on MTV and other music channels making them extremely popular! Their unique album is packed full of what I describe as 'artistic goodies' which include the amazing Pink Floyd cover 'Comfortably Numb' as well as the top 10 single 'Laura' and the single that got people noticing them 'Take Your Mama' as well as some unreleased greats such as 'Music is The Victim' and the melancholy 'Return to Oz'and not forgetting their amazing piano anthem 'Mary'. The vocals on this album remind me of early Elton John/David Bowie while the music is a fusion of pop/electronica with a slice of rock! Whatever your age/sex/music interests 'Scissor Sisters' can be recognised as an 'amazing feat' in today's manic music business!
