Great theming everywhere, friendly staff, a truly magical experience that the whole family will enjoy!
The 'Honey I Shrunk the Audience' ride (read below).
The year was 1999 and the trip was Disneyland Paris. A line retold many times when reviewing my DLP experience. DLP had only the Magic Kingdom at the time but this did not take away the 'Disneyland experience' by any means. After entering Main Street the first thing you see is the fabled 'Sleeping Beauty Castle' towering over the park leading to the charming Fantasyland. Everything in the park is charming which contributes to the 'magical' aspect of the Disney theme park phenomenon. To your left lies Adventureland and Frontierland while to your right is the futuristic Discoveryland. In Adventureland there are such memorable attractions as 'Pirates..' and 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril: Backwards!' and the picturesque area also plays host to memorable Disney landmarks such as Agrabah and Skull Rock. The area is certainly not the best in the park but is nicely themed and well thought-out. Next up along the path is Frontierland a tribute to the Wild West with a large lake surrounding it and an island that fetaures one of the best rides I have ever ridden: 'Big Thunder Mountain' This ride is themed excellently to the extent that it has its own island and is a great ride combining thrills and fun in one happy-go-lucky warm family package. Then there is 'Phantom Manor' the scariest of the 'Haunted Mansion' rides which includes a room that turns out to be a lift and armchairs (doom buggies) that take you on your journey through the attraction. Yet another great area which shows that Disney have a strong commitment to rides when it comes to theming. A trip through the castle will take you to Fantasyland, in my opinion the park's best area, where you have such classics as 'Peter Pan's Flight' 'Alice's Maze' and the true 'Disney' style of 'It's a Small World'.The reason I like this area so much is not because of the theming it is because the area, designed for young kids rather than adults, appeals to both in true Disney tradition. After all the magical hype of Fantasyland I headed towards 'Discoveryland' to ride 'Space Mountain' a ride that supposedly 'launches you into space' which was certainly not for the faint of heart or anyone carrying a video camera (me). A great ride with nice theming in the queueline and great appeal for thrill seekers. A short walk across the area will take you to the 'Imagination Institute' which is home to the '4-D' show 'Honey I Shrunk the Audience'. I found this ride to be quite intimidating especially the effects used that included rats climbing over you (pains in your arm/hair) and the scene where the snake tries to eat you which I found particularly disturbing. As a result I left the theatre in a shocked state. Discoveryland was good but the shocking experience of 'Honey..' was enough to put me off going to the area again. So overall I had a very good time at the park apart from that one ride. It truly lives up to its' 'magical' reputation and is a truly amazing place to visit.
