This book, Gender Trouble by Judith Butler, is a heavy read but well worth the effort. The book is an examination into both gender and sex and looks into how they relate to women, lesbians and gays. The book is a real mindblower and I would recommend it to anyone studying this area. It aims to provide a definition of femininity and I think it succeeds. Butler also lays into other experts in this area and some of the evaluations of other theorists' work is 'must-read' material. I would say this book is a very important piece of work.
