General Comments
Buried Onions, by Gary Soto, charts the luckless life of a nineteen-year-old Chicago lad who, despite continuous efforts to improve his life, continually finds himself dragged back into the gutter. This is a triumphant piece of work that balances a serious plot theme with an insightful and humorous narrative. Give it a try, I think you'll like it!

this is a great book. i love Gary Soto's other book that intertwines into this one (The Afterlife) the story took place in Fresno, NOT CHICAGO!!!! as a young poet, i understood the end and it was meaningful, but i still wonder what happens to eddie. i love Soto's books, they are amazing. my class read it, but i was so into it, i finished it early. i can relate to this book being a high school student. 5 STARS!!!!
