General Comments

Even if you take very good care of the Apple iPod it breaks very easily.
They cannot be exposed to any temperature extremes or the screens cracked.
Such damage in Australia is not covered by any warranty.
I was told that I must have dropped my Ipod but I did not.
I have heard of other people having this happen.
Just someone told me that their brothers iPod broke the day after he bought it.
I was told by the Apple repair centre that the screen could not be fixed and would have to buy a whole new unit.
My unit cost $800!
To make matters worse I had previously been told by another staff member that it would be covered under warranty and that I should take out an extended warranty.
I paid $100 for a warranty that covers an already broken machine that they refuse to repair.
Thinking that my ipod was going to be fixed I bought a protective cover for $95 which on the box says it fits my ipod. I also made sure I asked the sales people to make sure.
You have to squeeze it into the cover which broke the screen furhter. On top of that my existing ear phones do not fit into the case so to use it I would be forced to go back and spend more money. I showed them how the ipod had to be scraped on the corner in order to close the cover of the container so that the corner was acually being damaged everytime you open and close the container.
I tried to return the case, but they refused to give me my money back or even a credit note as they said there was a black spot on the case! I had the box and receipt.
When I spoke to the repair centre and complained they said that they could do nothing to help me.
All they wanted to know was who had sold me the extended warranty on a broken ipod as this was unacceptable. They didn't care that I was unhappy with the treatment I received at the Apple Centre claiming that they had nothing to do with these centres.
I cannot believe how poorly I have been treated.
I will never buy another Apple product again. I will stick to HP, Cannon, Dell, etc.
Companies who standby their products.

I also have to add that I have had endless problems with the Apple Service Centre. I would never have brought my unit knowing how useless they are - nor brought the extended warrenty. Long story short...
I noticed numerous faults with my Ipod, including the chrome backing coming off through no damage (it lives in a skin) sent it away to the Apple Service centre, they charged me almost $70 to fix what should have been covered under warrenty, and they completley scratched it! Big ones right through the screen and they aren't going to do anything about it, and still think I should pay to fix the malfunctions it came with.
I also will never ever purchase Apple again.
If the service centre won't help then there's no one else as the previous reviewer has also learnt, your left with a broken Ipod and $800 out of pocket. Its not worth it.

While I found this review helpful I have to rebuke that last comment. HP does NOT stand by their product. I had laptop problems for days and they couldn't have cared less about me! Every time I asked to speak to a supervisor they simply put me on hold for a half hour and then hung up.
