Good Points

Very attractive good quality handset. Very small but not at all flimsy. Super clear, high colour screen.

Bad Points

Complicated to text. And I experienced several other problems with this phone.

General Comments

If I were to write a review on looks alone, the Samsung E600 would come out tops. It's a fabulous looking phone, so good in fact, that I kept it even when I realised that you can't send video messages which is one of the reasons that I bought the phone in the first place!
The handset itself is compact and light weight, but unlike some other small phones which often feel cheap and flimsy, the Samsung E600 feels sturdy and high quality. It's definitely a phone that you'd feel proud to show off!
Though small on the outside, when you open it up, the buttons are a perfectly good size and not too small.
It has a dainty light on the outside that you can change the colour of to suit your mood, though at night when you are trying to sleep, you could liken it to strobe lighting and I have to remember to turn it face down!
Having said all of that, if you are a text addict, I would definitely not recommend this phone. It's complicated! I used to be able to text at high speed, but not on this phone.
One of several other reasons why, is that it's automatically set to capital letters and predictive text and though you can change this, every time you want to enter a number or punctuation mark you have to go to a new screen, and when you go back to the text it has reverted back to capitals and predictive! Also, if you change to lower case, all the buttons that you would normally use to enter punctuations etc, have changed to a different place! I find it very irritating when I text and as a result, I have hardly bothered as even for a text expert like me it seems to take me forever now.
I have also experienced problems with viewing my photo's. This phone has a multi-view function which is brilliant. It means you can flick through your pictures as fast as you like and don't have to wait an age like some phones I have had. The only problem is, that though I can view my photo's once, after that they turn into red and green splodges and can't be viewed again! The same goes with MMS's. Obviously this is a fault with my own handset and I assume that most of them work perfectly well.
The photo's, when I have been able to view them are crystal clear and much better quality than a lot of other phone's I have seen.
The video quality isn't bad, much better than my husbands last two Sony Ericssons, however the sound quality isn't great.
The other minor problems with mine are that the vibration has never worked and though you are supposed to be able to change the keypad tone, I can't!
Also, you can't do anything with the phone unless it's open. Even to look at the time you have to open and shut it!
The ring tones aren't great, and if you do literally want a 'ring' there isn't one. instead you can be alerted by the sound of someone opening and gulping down a fizzy drink, or birds tweeting and dogs barking, even water running! None of which by the way would be loud enough if you were in the middle of a noisy town! There are other musical melodies, all of which are truly mind numbingly awful!
I have had my phone for nearly a month and have now arranged to send it back. I've now ordered the silver Nokia 7610 instead. It's the only one I liked the look of, and hopefully it's got video messaging too.
Will I miss my Samsung? Well, I will miss it's little flashing light that you can change to any colour, pink in my case, and I will miss it's good looks, but apart from that, the answer would have to be no. However, if it wasn't for the problems with the pictures and texting, I definitely would not be sending it back.
