Food and drink superb; good economy seating; excellent frequent flyer scheme
Distinctly Gallic attitudes to punctuality and service; transfers at Paris not especially streamlined
I fly frequently with Air France between the UK and Paris, but on such short flights one airline is much like another (though I always use Air France in preference to British Airways). This review is for a Transatlantic journey: Manchester - New York via Paris CDG. Air France ambience is immediately evident on long haul. French is, of course, used as first language and you should not be surprised if you get a better response from the crew by speaking French. You're on their territory! As might be expected, food is to a superior standard, even in economy class, with full meals of 4 courses, plus unlimited free coffee, bread and drinks, both alcoholic and otherwise. The difference in attitude and style between Air France and US carriers in breathtaking. Multiple video channels and personal entertainment systems and free headphones to take away (and use on airlines which charge for them!). Seat room is pefectly adequate and overall cabin environment at least as good as any other airline. In both directions, I arrived relaxed and in good humour, despite lengthy flights and something of a scrum at Paris airport, which needs much smoother transfer arrangements. Overall though, much to be recommended and nothing serious about which to complain. One last point - Air France give full freuqent flyer points on all flights, even on discounted tickets. As part of Sky Team, this rapidly gives a lot of free flight possibilities. Highly recommended!
