Good Points

The itinerary was fantastic as were the egyptologist aboard the vessel.

Bad Points

was well over rated at 4 star ship when it should have been 2 star.

General Comments

I was Very dissapointed with Viking I, no carpeting in floor, slow service for drinks, buffet meals which were boring and repetative.
Went on to stay at crocodile island which was very relaxing and quiet.

I went to stay on Viking 1 November 04 and found it brilliant, food good, not everyone may like it but then they haven’t the guts to let themselves go and try something new, the service was excellent as was the entertainment but again I found most people to be boring and not include themselves in the dressing up and belly dancing, isn’t that the point of a holiday to let yourself go and have fun so to the lady who went on the 29th Jan 05 and left a bad review you were probably one of the people like I had on my ship BORING and not willing to enjoy themselves, life out there is very different, meaning the food etc so if all you can do is moan at what I felt a fantastic holiday then stay at home. I met the manager and have done since my holiday and he puts everything into his ship, so don’t go back as you obviously do not appreciate it. The waiters have many people to serve with little of them, chill out on your holidays and stop the moaning.

I was looking for a review on Viking III, but sadly there are none. After reading the review on Viking I, I hope it's a bit better, but clearly the Viking cruise boats are a long way from 4* luxury as we know it, Captain!!

We had a great holiday on Viking 1, talk about service with a smile ... we have never had so much laughter on a holiday before. Refitted the Viking 1 is an excellent cruise ship, small, friendly and very good food ...

We spent a wonderful week on Viking 1 from November 21st 2005. As it is a small boat it was easy to get to know passengers and crew. The crew were all helpful and the service great. The boat was re-fitted 3 months previously and kept very clean throughout. Hygiene standards were high, and as far as I know there were no "Egyptian tummy" problems.
Yes the meals became a bit same-ish after a while, but they have to cook with what is available and there was still plenty of choice and quantity.
Our Egyptologist was excellent and spoke very good English, and he did his best to avoid peak times for our visits.
We did all the "extras", which did add to the cost, but they were well worth it for the experience.
I looked through the comments book and others appeared to be equally satisfied.
If there were not so many other places in the world to see we would definitely go again!

Viking 111. We travelled October 2005, and most of my fears were groundless. Cleanliness and crew fantastic, also our Egyptologist was excellent and all the tours exceeded expectations! Early starts were sensible to avoid crowds. One gripe: the food. After 2 days, it was always the same, and generally lacked flavour. More spice and variety would have helped: perhaps they don't want to risk King Tut's revenge for their passengers!
