Gordie Pops's Review of Bank of Scotland
27th Jan 2005
Overall Rating
They used to be very good, consistent and personable......THEN CAME HALIFAX
Bad Points
Charge £30 per transaction even when in credit. Do not reply to letters of complaint. Do not reply to Financial Ombudsmen.
General Comments
I have had accounts with the Bank of Scotland for over 10 years. Business and personal. Credit balances in excess of £20,000. Yet they charge £30 per transaction even when in credit. Do not reply to letters of complaint. Do not reply to Financial Ombudsman. They returned 2 items on an account in error..they admitted it..no apology, no compensation...Nuthin!.. They sent my statements to an incorrect address for 5 months. ...god knows why.....Accounts now transferred..to RBS what else can I do ?

The Bank of Scotland is terrible for customer service. I drew money from a cash machine abroad and the amounts came off twice which meant I lost 90 pounds. Their computer strangely never picked it up, yet in 4 days, although I was in credit, I got bank charges of 30 pounds on six occasions immediatley totaling 180. I complained and was told the manager wasn't in but they would contact me. They never did. I made an appointment to see the bank manager. When I got there they told me the manager doesn't come in on mondays! WHY THE APPOINTMENT THEN, I was then told by phone that they could take two charges with no explanation or apology for my money being taken off illegally. Why should they charge me for my mistakes when they don't compensate me for their mistakes. A bank's job is to look after our money, not lose it. THEY ARE SHOCKING AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE ADMIT IT !
