“Received this Ferguson FRG-120D unit as a Christmas...”

Good Points
Good sound quality.
Good DAB reception (in Central London at least)

Bad Points
Mains hum on speaker when in standby mode.
Drains batteries when in standy (6 x C batteries last a few days at most in standby)
Extremely limited "sleep" and alarm functions.

General Comments
Received this Ferguson FRG-120D unit as a Christmas present. While the sound quality and reception are great, there are serious problems with the unit. The main one being that even in Standby mode, the speaker emits an audible hum. This also drains the batteries at an alarming rate (6xC lasted a couple of days in standby for me). Ludicrously, it means you have to plug the mains cable into the radio to stop it draining the batteries. The manual makes reference to a "DC Switch" on the unit, but there is none there. It's an ELEMENTARY design fault, and it's scandalous that Dixons Group are manufacturing this under the Ferguson name, yet denying any knowledge regarding the faults inherent in the unit.

I have no problems with mains reception, but like this reviewer had my expensive six batteries dead after only half an hour's listening. Obviously it must have been in the 'standby mode' when I thought that I had switched it off. I'll take the new batteries out after use next time, which is a nuisance. Great if someone can tell us how to switch the darn thing off as I want to take it when I go camping!
